Iโ€™m up nursing and blogging. This might become a regular thing who knows! This trip was over a year ago. I was coming off of the busiest and hardest year of my life. My mom wanted to go Iceland and I really wanted to go again so we booked a trip with some of our best friends. We stayed in a camper the whole time and drove all around the country. It was amazing. No bathrooms or showers but still amazing. I miss this trip so much and canโ€™t wait til I can take one again with my mom! ย

Side note, I actually found out I was pregnant on the flight home and miscarried about a week later and was pregnant with Rooney within a month. Kinda crazy how everything works but it just makes me laugh I found out I was pregnant on the plane! ๐Ÿ’›ย

MARAE floral

I love love a good project! I have been feeling so burnt out and so I took a few month break on just fun shoots, and now I get to have the best time bringing back some fun ideas!

New York fashion week really inspired me to implement some type of collage. So I went and bought a lot of floral magazines and cut out all of the pieces of flowers that I could find, and then group them all onto a posterboard making a collage! We use that as our backdrop and I thought it turned out so fun and so creative, mostly for me just allowing myself to do something different! I'm so grateful for such a good friend to jump on projects like this with me! It makes it that much more fun! ย

Iceland Preview | Happily Grey

Last month I was able to go to somewhere I've always dreamed of- Iceland! With the prettiest and most talented Happily Grey.

I will have a longer post coming this week, but I wanted to do a little preview of some of my favorite nature shots!

Look out for the full post. There will be lots of waterfalls, stunning Icelandic scenes, and of course, Mary from Happily Grey.

For the Love Fall Retreat

This is one of those posts where I honestly feel too much, and end up totally over sharing so bear with me. After teaching for 5 years in the education field, I knew that teaching would always be a part of my life. From the first workshop that I taught, I felt the magic click. This was my calling- where I was meant to be.. I knew how lonely it could be in the beginning, and I also knew without a doubt it didn't have to be that way for others.

When we started to plan the first retreat it was so important to me that every detail fit into place. I think that the setting for learning really lends to how well you are able to learn. I wanted the attendees to feel welcome, appreciated and valued.  Without these incredible ladies that opened up their hearts, I wouldn't even have had this opportunity. Yes, this retreat was about learning, but it was also about taking a step away from the everyday and really, I mean reallllly, digging into why we do what we do. I wanted the environment to really let everyone open up and create. From the opening dinner, catered by Food Made By Tom, to the final night of chatting and reviewing images from the week, it was the perfect chance to begin and end in a safe and inviting environment.

So what is For the Love about? It's about finding you. In the beginning of the photography journey, it's so easy to fall into the trap of idolizing another photographer, from their editing style to how they speak. This so often leads to comparing, which I think only leads to disappointment. Real, meaningful work comes from the heart, from doing things for the love of them. Self-discovery and appreciation is key. A lot of time was  spent asking "why do I do this?", me oversharing on my life and experience, and then talking through how we can get to the point where we're creating the work we KNOW we can. One of my favorite parts of this retreat was that these women walked away with close relationships, and people who would continue to cheer them on in their business. These photographers found their voice, and found a network of people to inspire and encourage them.

I still have a handful of spots left for the For the Love spring retreat (April 22nd-24th in Utah) and if a little self-love and a push towards authentic creativity is what you need, I would LOVE to have you take this step in your business with me. If you took the time to read this, that tells me that you're ready to invest in yourself and your business.  Know that the opportunity is rewarding and worth it (and full of treats and late nights and incredible photo shoots). If you have any questions at all, please send me an email. I would love to take some time to talk to you about any questions about the upcoming retreat. Feel free to send me and email at

Just to wrap, below is a gallery of all the shoots we did and an amazing video that Janae Godfrey put together! It was so important to me to give the attendees variety in their portfolio. We will be mixing up what shoots we do for the next retreat, I can't wait to show you what we put together! Huge thank you to Jill (makeup), Tatum (hair), Ashley (styling), Jess (design work), Rachel (florals), Haley (teaching assistant) and Jade (coordinator/assistant) for all your work and being there for me though all the crazy nights. You all are quite the amazing group of women and I am honored to call you my friends! I couldn't have done this without you.  I think I've thanked them at least 500 times at the retreat and here's one more thank you for all of you. My rocks, seriously.

Nightmares of the light [Inspiration shoot]-Flower of the Month

Working on this project was exactly what my soul needed. Sometimes as a photographer I have found myself getting burned out, feeling unable to be even more creative with my work, and yet when I get to plan something with my favorite Rachel, we without fail, always create something that speaks to me. This project began as a haunted garden styled shoot, we then adapted this inspiration to a nightmare shoot and examining the fears we have in our lives. I really hope you will be able to feel this vision as we did, and that you love it!

Poison Ivy {Utah Fashion/Blogger Photographer}

The lovely Jackie from Little J Style and I shoot a couple times a month and when she asked me to do the photos for her inspiration shoot of Poison Ivy I was so excited! Jackie is not only stunning but has this amazing hair from Aubrey Nelson, below, and she just rocks it! I loved this whole set!

The lovely Vivian did the makeup for the shoot and she has a tutorial on how to get this look for Halloween on her website at this link! She is so outstanding and has the greatest touch and I am always at awe while she is doing makeup!

The lovely Aubrey Nelson did the hair color and has done it for a while for Jackie, and she also did the styling. She had this amazing hairspray that I am still dreaming of! So yummy and had a shimmer to it also! If you need a good color or just an amazing hair stylist, she is your girl!

I have to admit photography can be really grueling and tiring but these past few weeks I have had AMAZING shoots and I couldn't be more grateful to other people who have trusted me and allowed me to work with them! It is a dream job and I couldn't be happier! Hope you love these and have a spooky Halloween week!

Happy Fourth!

This week has been a trip to say the least. I signed with a studio lease, my car was towed, and I got to shoot for the first time in my new studio. I am pretty excited to say the least. Can't wait to see what amazing things will come this summer/fall.

My darling friends Natalie and Skylar came to the studio to do a few test shoots. Hope you enjoy these shots we did with our patriotic pride!

The bottom shots were done by the lovely Natalie Wall also. She is a total babe. Check her out.

Enjoy the holiday and be safe lovelies!
